Description JOB DESCRIPTION Summary The Environmental Technician supports field and office-based environmental programs by conducting sampling, data collection, permitting, documentation, and compliance monitoring through scheduled inspections. Functional Responsibilities Exhibit a strong work ethic with the ability to take direction and work in a team setting and independently. Adhere to Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and company policies. Assist with Environmental department tasks (sample collection, site visits, inspections). Assist in data processing, mapping, and modeling. Assist in environmental permitting process for air, land, and water. Collect, sort, and prepare rock, water, and soil samples for testing. Maintain accurate, timely records of test data, quality control results, and files for the Engineering department. Complete special projects as assigned. Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies and procedures. Perform other functions and duties as required. Competencies: Capable of conducting independent research. Work well in a team or independently. Pay close attention to detail. Exhibit strong organizational skills. Communicate clearly and effectively. Demonstrate ability to communicate technical material into layman’s terms for explanatory purposes. Exhibit solid customer service and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate intellectual curiosity. Exhibit familiarity with proper lab safety procedures. EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS A High School diploma required. Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, or related fields. 1-3 years of experience in aggregate or related industry a plus. willingness to travel to his/her assigned locations within the Permian Basin and spend a significant portion of time in a mining environment. A valid driver’s license with no major violations that would exclude a person from driving for business as defined by our insurance carrier and company policy. Requirements PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Candidate must be drug free. Position requires moderately strenuous physical work. Must be able to: Lift and carry up to 40 pounds from floor to 3’ – 5’ occasionally, Sit or stand for extended periods of time, Travel safely while walking over uneven terrain, roads, and pavement, Use hands and fingers to operate computers and other office machinery, Effectively communicate in verbal and written formats with internal and external personnel, clients, and vendors, Wear proper protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, and gloves, Observe all company Safety policies on company premises and while operating heavy construction machinery, Occasionally work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions, Work safely in wet, muddy, and slippery conditions occasionally, Environment will vary from outdoors with varying noise levels and vibrations associated with construction equipment, and exposure to building materials, dust, and dirt at operating sites to a normal office environment.
