Description
MPS Group, Inc., is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our team at the GM Plant Facility located in Toledo, OH. This individual will be responsible for handling solid and hazardous waste at the plant.   Shift Details: Shift: 2nd Schedule: 2:30 p.m. 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with rotating Saturday schedule for overtime.    Responsibilities and Job Duties: * Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal and other waste streams throughout the plant and transports to disposal container or storage room. * Segregate, sort and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements. * Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfill, recycling center, and any other disposal streams. * Perform and document daily equipment inspection prior to use. * Clean/maintain organization and compliance of 90-day Accumulation Area, including sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, labeling drums. * Assist supervisor with response to chemical spill incidents by placing adsorbents on liquids, sweeping or vacuuming solids and containerizing cleaned up materials for proper disposal. * Assist Project Manager with daily supply delivery, waste pick up and waste organization. * Perform inspections of waste storage areas, and emergency equipment, taking corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during the inspection. * Inventory and Inspections of Waste Spill Kits. * Document and inform Resource Manager of any contamination in plant’s recycling and waste containers. * Maintain necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections and other activities as required. * Operate fork truck to load/unload trucks. * Operate Burden carriers. * Follow all plant- related safety guidelines. * Sort and bale recyclable material. Requirements and Qualifications: * One-year minimum in waste management. * Must be able to pass a background check. * Must be able to pass a drug test. Preferred Qualifications: * High School Diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
The Environmental Technician will be responsible for collecting, segregating, and packaging various waste streams, including hazardous waste, for off-site shipment according to EPA requirements. Duties also involve maintaining the 90-day Accumulation Area, assisting with chemical spill responses, and performing required inspections and documentation.
