Watercare is seeking a motivated early-career professional to join us as a Field Service Technician – Air Quality, where you will contribute to environmental monitoring projects that safeguard the health of our communities and environment. You will be hands-on with cutting-edge air quality monitoring instrumentation—installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting data validation. Around 60–70% of your time will be in the field, travelling across New Zealand (3 to 4 overnight stays per month), working with experts and smart tech. As part of our Air Quality team, you will play a vital role in scientific monitoring and protecting ambient air quality throughout Aotearoa. Your work will directly inform regulatory decisions and support industry best practices, ensuring our air remains clean and communities thrive. Key Responsibilities Install, calibrate, and maintain state-of-the-art air quality monitoring instrumentation and software. Diagnose and resolve equipment issues, support system upgrades, and contribute to the commissioning of modern technology. Engage with customers and deliver professional on-site support and technical expertise. Maintain meticulous records and adhere to rigorous quality management systems (e.g., ISO 17025). Champion safety, sustainability, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. With a practical mindset and unwavering attention to detail, you are ready to embrace challenges and grow your technical expertise in a collaborative environment. Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. Excellent computer literacy and effective communication skills. Full New Zealand driver’s licence with a willingness to travel 3 to 4 days per month (including overnight stays) across the country. Familiarity with environmental monitoring or laboratory quality systems is advantageous, but not necessary.
