MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Higher Education or related field; master’s degree is preferred
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in student advisement, case management, or support services within an educational or community-based setting
  • Experience working with adult learners or in educational opportunity programs
  • Familiarity with peer mentoring programs, holistic student support models, and best practices in retention and engagement
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage large caseloads with empathy and professionalism
  • Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish, is highly desirable
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate a caseload of up to 300 students, providing individualized support focused on engagement, retention, and completion
  • Conduct proactive outreach to at-risk, probationary, or re-engaged students, and develop follow-up plans for continued support
  • Facilitate group workshops and engagement sessions on personal development topics including time management, test anxiety, motivation, and stress reduction
  • Track all student interactions and maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and progress reports in support of institutional reporting
  • Coordinate BEOC’s Peer Mentoring Program, including mentor recruitment, training, supervision, and program assessment
  • Refer students to internal services (Academic Affairs, CCI, Career Services) and external community resources (e.g., housing, wellness, childcare, or mental health supports)Support alumni engagement initiatives, including recognition ceremonies and graduate follow-up outreach
  • Assist students in identifying educational goals, personal strengths, and available resources to help navigate program expectations
  • Monitor student performance and participation to support early intervention strategies
  • Establish and maintain accurate student records, files, and databases; assist with preparation of data reports and activity summaries
  • Participate in professional development activities, staff meetings, and institutional events
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including support for special student populations or BEOC initiative
