External candidates are encouraged to apply for our externally advertised roles Employment Type: Temporary Employment period: 12 months Grade/Band: Clerk Grade 9/10 Location: Sydney CBD Tuesday to Thursday, Flexibility on Mondays & Fridays Applications Close: Thursday 12 February 2026 at 9:59am Role impact & contribution In the Departmental Liaison Officer (DLO) role supporting the Minister for Work Health & Safety, you will be central to facilitating high quality engagement between NSW Treasury—specifically the State Insurance Schemes (SIS) division—and the Minister’s Office. The DLO role provides a unique opportunity to shape key decisions affecting NSW’s insurance and care system, contribute to the effective delivery of government priorities, and build capability in ministerial liaison, strategic policy, commercial analysis and whole‑of‑government coordination. You will be at the centre of issues that directly affect workers, employers and the broader NSW community. Unlike other roles, this position offers the opportunity to combine DLO duties with policy development work, with three days per week being spent in the Minister’s Office, and the remaining two days being spent working with the SIS team. Your typical day-to-day responsibilities include: Coordinating information flows between Treasury, the Minister’s Office and other agencies, ensuring issues related to the State’s insurance and care arrangements are addressed promptly and accurately. Preparing, reviewing and coordinating Ministerial briefs, correspondence, Cabinet submissions, parliamentary documents and other materials to support effective decision making. Identifying emerging issues and risks across the State’s insurance and care system Building strong and trusted relationships with internal teams, ministerial offices, cluster agencies, boards and other stakeholders to ensure the seamless flow of information and alignment to government priorities. Supporting oversight of icare and contributing to the development of governance, accountability and financial frameworks relevant to the insurance and care system. Working with SIS colleagues on one or more significant policy development projects, comprising various aspects of insurance reform and system improvement. This role plays a vital part in ensuring Treasury’s advice is timely, strategic, politically aware and aligned with whole-of-government priorities.
