Description
Ventia is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Operational Readiness Officer to support the Defence Clothing System contract. Reporting to the Business Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring our people and assets are ready to deliver exceptional service outcomes. This role will ideally be located in Melbourne, however consideration will be given to other locations. About the Role As the Operational Readiness Officer, you will: Lead training needs analysis, program design, and delivery across multiple sites. Ensure personnel are equipped with the skills and knowledge to operate effectively in a logistics environment. Manage and maintain registers for Commonwealth and company assets, ensuring compliance with relevant policies. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive innovation, efficiency, and service excellence. Support operational compliance and consistency across national sites. Key Responsibilities Design and deliver training programs (manuals, e-learning, workshops). Evaluate training effectiveness and implement continuous improvements. Maintain asset registers and support procurement and redistribution. Analyse performance data and recommend improvement strategies. Promote a customer-centric culture and act as the first point of escalation. Uphold SHEQ standards and contribute to a safe, inclusive workplace. What You’ll Bring Qualifications: Cert IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent experience. Experience: Minimum 3 years in a logistics environment, preferably within Defence. Technical Skills: Familiarity with Defence systems such as MILIS/ERP Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and adaptability. Special Conditions Must be an Australian Citizen and eligible for Defence Security Clearance (Baseline, NV1, NV2, or PV). Must pass an AFP check and maintain a valid Working with Children Check. About the Contract Ventia has recently been appointed as the single industry partner for a transformative new contract supporting the Australian Defence Force’s clothing capability. Commencing mid-2026, this seven-year agreement (with potential extension for additional 13 years) will modernise and streamline clothing services for Defence personnel. Ventia will collaborate with expert Australian organisations to deliver end-to-end solutions including design, supply, warehousing, distribution, and retail store services, ensuring efficiency, innovation, and exceptional value for the Commonwealth.
