POSITION DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for Epic BI Developer who can hit the ground running and actively support the team in fulfilling ongoing data requests with minimal onboarding. The Epic Business Intelligence Developer (BID) will bring their experience with the hospital’s main Health Information System (HIS), Epic and Structured Query Language (SQL) to deliver data and reports, at the request of our internal and external stakeholders, by translating the business requirements into technical solutions using the best tools at hand. The successful candidate will also be adept at gathering these requirements with the data stakeholders directly. This is a casual position with flexible hours.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a health-related field or experienced in clinical, patient access, health information or project management roles
  • Epic Cogito certification and minimum of 3 years of experience working with SQL and Epic Clarity is required
  • Project/systems implementation experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Superior customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication, organization, problem solving, critical thinking skills and detail-oriented
  • Proactive, self-starter who can prioritize effectively, manage their time, and learn quickly
  • Team player who requires little supervision and fosters a positive and collaborative environment
  • Ability to lead meetings, resolve conflicts, maintain issues and enhancements lists, and manage a project plan
  • Ability to probe for information about the underlying needs of the organization and user community, which directly influences how the system will be built
  • Eagerness to learn the system and promote it within the organization
  • Must successfully complete required Epic project and certification in the application within 3 months of first training date
  • Understand importance and demonstrates ability to foster a culture of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Responsibilities
  • Partner with data stakeholders, Epic BIDs and Epic Application Specialists to ensure data and reporting requirements are gathered, and needs are met
  • Perform in-depth analysis of workflows, define requirements, analyze, build, test and implement small to large initiatives
  • Write efficient SQL queries to extract information from Epic Clarity database for clinical and research purposes
  • Develop report templates, dashboards and metrics in Epic
  • Coordinate the movement of data to downstream systems
  • Thoroughly test extracts and reports to ensure that they comply with business rules and logic
  • Document all script and report builds to ensure knowledge is shared amongst the team
  • Design and execute testing plans to ensure quality assurance with new releases
  • Monitor data to ensure that errors/issues are acted on in a timely manner
  • Ensure privacy and security standards are always adhered to
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members on reporting projects
  • Assess new functionality in system releases, software updates and fixes to ensure compatibility with organizational standards and practices
  • Develop and document procedures for implementing system changes and other tasks/projects to support team knowledge base
  • Present analysis and recommendations to governance committees and participate in roadmap planning in partnership with various stakeholders
  • Work closely with application, technical and training teams to deliver high customer service for operational and project support
