JOB SUMMARY

The Epic Client System Administrator is responsible for providing and maintaining the windows-based servers including but not limited to installation of special updates, Epic upgrades, and patching. This role works with a group of information technology staff, including infrastructure engineers; database administrators; release managers, application analysts; and security specialists to design, install and support the Epic IT infrastructure and applications. This includes installing and configuring the Epic applications; ensure industry and HCA specific system security protections and compliance are in place; integrate third party systems with Epic and HCA systems; ensure proper change management process and ongoing operational support of all Epic systems and applications.
The Epic Client System Administrator establishes and maintains strong relationships with the entire project team, clinical leaders, facility staff and IT&S operations, providing technical oversight to the organization. This position collaborates with project leadership on planning, implementation, status reporting and operational support for the application. Assist or and implement industry best practices, project controls, processes, and disciplines to support the Epic projects and support.
The Epic Client System Administrator works with teams to ensure technical solutions abide with all regulatory compliance including HIPAA, SOX, PCI, and other regulatory agencies, security policies, and non-functional requirements.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

5+ years of relevant experience with EPIC required

OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Obtained or willing to obtain / maintain Epic Client Systems Manager (ECSM/ECSA) certification.
May take additional Epic Application courses to gain holistic understanding of Epic; gain full understanding of integration points.
Other professional technical or project management certifications desired.
Experience working and managing EPIC environments.

Responsibilities

The following are highlighted competencies and core expectations for the job/role:

  • Act as an Epic Administrator with assigned project discovery, working collaboratively with business leaders and stakeholders to establish a shared understanding of business needs. Ensure alignment between engagement objectives, business strategic direction and overall project deliverables.
  • Involved with the design, procurement, delivery, operational support, and life cycle for:

o ESX hypervisors, Windows Virtual Machines, Windows physical servers
o SSO, Tap-n-Go, and remote access via PCs, laptops, mobile devices, and tablets.
o Networking to include port configurations, firewall policies, PCI compliance, load balancing.
o Storage to include storage procurement, installation, and provisioning.
o Backups to include clones, Commvault and data replication.
o Business continuity technology and processes
o Change management oversight leveraging Epic Data Courier and Service Central
o Security definition and enforcement of user roles, access provisioning, financial Payment Card Industry standards and data encryption
o End user device recommendations, selection, and support.
o Application performance testing
o Third party application integrations

o Identify and maintain Epic test lab equipment.

  • Actively supports assigned Projects and IT Leadership goals.
  • Accountable for the completion and quality of deliverables assigned including but not limited to design documentation, build audits, testing plans and scripts, training curriculum, and support documentation.
  • Communicate project status with project members, with department representatives, and with higher level executive leadership; provide formal status reporting on a periodic basis to leadership as requested.
  • Participate and lead in other key implementation project activities and meetings as assigned.
  • Accountable for the completion and quality of deliverables assigned to the team including but not limited to design documentation, build audits, testing plans and scripts, training curriculum, and support documentation.
  • Lead efforts focusing on technical infrastructure, database administration, security, and data reporting.
  • Define and lead business continuity planning/testing for Epic implementations. This not only includes data center destruction, but also localized facility events that require business continuity planning.
  • Analyze issues/problems identified by team members and end-users and assist with resolutions, or appropriately escalate as needed.
  • Maintain change management policies and execution for code and data promotion through the Epic environments.
  • Ensure that the Epic solution meets all IT&S, governmental and industry security guidelines from an infrastructure perspective.
  • Implement, coordinate the processes and timing of Epic software maintenance.
  • Implement and coordinate Epic software releases and updates and initiate the process for distributing and reviewing release notes
