REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in a higher education or legal environment.
Experience in conducting civil rights, Title IX, HR or criminal investigations.
Experience working with individuals impacted by harassment and/or discrimination.
Experience with training regarding trauma informed interviews.
Multilingual.

SUMMARY

The Iowa State University Office of Equal Opportunity is accepting applications to fill an Equal Opportunity Specialist II position. This position will assist with the University’s Equal Opportunity mission; Title IX compliance; and compliance with federal and state non-discrimination laws and executive orders. Responsible for investigating formal complaints of discrimination and harassment and facilitating resolutions of informal complaints. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent writing and analytical skills.

Responsibilities
  • Based on direction and advice of the Director, receive and investigate formal complaints of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct.
  • Facilitate resolution of informal complaints and work collaboratively with partners to complete investigation of formal complaints.
  • Provide interim and supportive measures to impacted parties reporting discrimination and harassment, sexual misconduct, or retaliation.
  • Under the supervision of the Director monitor compliance with state and federal law; federal and state executive orders and the University’s non-discrimination and harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation policy.
  • Conduct ongoing faculty, staff, and student training on responsible employee requirements.
  • Collaborate weekly with partners from HR, Provost, General Counsel, and the Dean of Student’s Office.
  • Participate in the office’s weekly Title IX group to provide updates on active investigations.
  • Responsible for entering in all case information into the EO’s Maxient system in a timely manner.
  • Author reports synthesizing complex factual patterns in a neutral and clear manner which is accessible and easy to digest.
  • Function as subject matter for the University’s partners, faculty staff and students on laws, regulations, and policies regarding discrimination and harassment, sexual misconduct, retaliation, and responsible employee requirements.Train and educate the University community on issues of importance including preventing discrimination and harassment, sexual misconduct, retaliation, and responsible employee reporting requirements.
