We are looking for an experienced CDL-A driver with a positive safety and driver performance record to join our Equipment Team. This position includes working directly with potential new hire drivers and existing drivers for testing and vehicle inspection.
Equipment Coordinator
· Ensure returned trucks are shuttled to repair for maintenance
· Shuttle trucks to terminal for cleaning and inspection prior to reassignment
· Administer driving competency tests to potential new hires during onboarding, covering all aspects of pre-trip inspection, vehicle operation and post trip inspections are completed to company standards
· Complete hand off inspections with drivers when trucks are assigned and obtain driver sign off to take possession of the vehicle for use.
· Inspect returned vehicles prior to maintenance to identify any damage or repair issues that need to be addressed with driver
· Report damage to claims
· Fill out necessary documentation, notify necessary department and update company systems as needed regarding vehicle condition and location.
· Assist drivers with installation of basic equipment items not provided by the company but allowed according to policy
· Notify manager of supply and inventory status
· Ensure PPE is with the truck when it is issued and when returned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Extensive physical effort regular lifting up to 50 pounds with some team lifting up to 100 pounds
    -Requires stair climbing, heavy lifting, handling, pushing or moving objects up to 50 pounds (or greater with the use of mechanical assistance).
  • Constant standing/walking. When driving to retrieve or deliver vehicles sitting for extended periods.
  • ability to use senses including hearing, vision and scent to diagnose issues

-Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

  • Able to squat, crouch and reach as needed to handle freight; able to enter and exit the vehicle’s cab numerous times each day.
  • Must have sufficient grasp and prehension to control an oversize steering wheel, shift gears using a manual transmission, and maneuver a tractor-trailer in crowded areas.
  • Able to push and pull freight at a self-selected height. The weight of freight will vary between cost divisions.
  • Able to access and manually release fifth wheel lever and tandem pins which requires horizontal pulling. This function may require increased force due to the condition of the equipment.
  • Able to occasionally carry or move freight weighing up to 50 pounds. The weight of freight could vary.
  • Able to install and remove tire chains, hook and unhook trailers, and secure freight.
  • Must be able to work in severe weather conditions-both heat and cold.
  • Meet all physical requirements established by DOT regulations.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $1,000.00 - $1,100.00 per week
