DESCRIPTION

The Equipment Engineer I position in Particle engineering is responsible for supporting the improvement, troubleshooting, construction and operation of various production equipment for VitriVax. The position will work alongside process engineers to identify improvements in reliability or function to existing equipment, and also create custom equipment for various unit operations. The role requires a variety of skills including equipment design, retrofitting, testing, panel wiring, electronic components, management of change, vendor relations and more. The position will also learn to operate and use all particle manufacturing equipment to assist in campaign production as needed.
This role reports to the head of Particle Engineering and will work with a team of Scientists and engineers.
This is a full-time position, located in Boulder, Colorado.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Candidates must have an engineering background (degree in mechanical, chemical, aerospace engineering, applied physics or similar, or equivalent trade) with 2+ years of industry experience
  • Applicants must have the capability to perform the responsibilities and duties listed above and be willing to learn.
  • Hands-on skill and mechanical prowess and finesse related to equipment assembly, wiring, and repair/cleaning/maintenance activities.
  • Preferred experience in vacuum or pharmaceutical/sanitary equipment
  • Preferably experience with LabVIEW and PLCs (Beckhoff or others)
  • Ability to read and follow wiring schematics and low voltage control boxes, and the capability to diagnose malfunctioning electronics safely with a multimeter.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment including authoring and following standard operating procedures, design specifications and test plans
  • Proficient in the use of computers and productivity software (Excel, Word, etc) and CAD software (Fusion 360 (preferred)/Solidworks/Autocad, etc)

  • Understands instrumentation equivalencies and manages component replacement/repair
  • Troubleshoots failures to equipment or processes and performs root cause analyses and implements solutions.
  • Consults with subject matter experts to explore and develop new process equipment & know-how.
  • Maintains laboratory notebook and equipment logs consistently with policies.
  • Supports Particle Engineering staff by operating analytical and manufacturing equipment.
  • Follows change management and standard operating procedures.
  • Executes general lab upkeep and organization
  • Adheres to Company policies and safety guidelines
