Summary:     The Equipment Mechanic diagnoses the nature of malfunctions of various types of automobiles, vans, light duty trucks, heavy equipment and other related equipment.  Employee determines the type and extent of repair necessary and performs work as required, subject to supervision and management review. Position is not eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement.  Relationships: •    Reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. •    Frequent contact with the Roadway Manager or Supervisor. •    Works independently or with management on projects.  Responsibilities: •    Performs all tasks safely, complies with all internal and external safety requirements, supports ITRCC safety culture, attends all safety trainings and completes all compliance trainings as required by ITRCC. •    Uphold ITRCC’s core values: Community, Actions, Reliability, Excellence and Safety (CARES). •    Required to work a Rotating Schedule during winter shifts. •    Required to be on-call and available during snow events. •    Required to make road calls for emergency repairs. •    Required to perform all gas and electric welding.  •    Diagnoses automotive, truck and heavy equipment malfunctions. •    Maintains inventory control and other records utilizing asset management software. •    Completes engine, transmission or front suspension overhaul. •    Replaces or repairs major engine, transmission, differential, suspension or electrical components. •    Performs routine preventative maintenance work. •    Install automobile, truck and heavy equipment accessories, such as oil and air filters, windshield wiper blades, fan belts, batteries, etc. •    Modifies equipment for additional equipment to be used. •    Performs diagnosis of mechanical or electrical breakdowns and makes necessary adjustments and repairs such as replacing fuel pumps, replacing gaskets, replacing exhaust system, repairing or replacing brake drums, linings, and brake fluid, etc. •    Maintains service records for work completed. •    Making calls to auto parts store and dealerships to find replacement parts that are needed.  •    Maintaining records of inspections and oil changes on all pieces of equipment and vehicles.  •    Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as checking fluids, greasing and oil changes.  •    Communications with supervisors and management.  •    Regular reliable attendance. •    All other duties as assigned. Qualifications: (required)     •    High school diploma/ GED •    Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air-brake and tanker endorsement.  Desirable Experience:  •    1-5 years’ experience in automotive/truck repair •    ASE Certification •    Mobile Refrigerant Certification •    TIA Certification Working Conditions:  •    This position requires: (Frequent est. 5 hrs per shift)     Frequent standing, walking and sitting     Frequent talking and hearing     Moderate physical effort     Moderate computer usage     Exposed to weather elements daily (hot and cold)     Travel time required may be up to 25%
