Job Type: Full-time with overtime
Experience: 1 year preferred (Will train)
Reports to: Foreman, no supervisory responsibility
Wage: $26 - $28 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

JOB SUMMARY:

A Scraper Operator will work in pits and quarries strilling topsoil, overburdening, and reclaiming. Take ownership of your role by completing trip inspections, operating equipment safely, and working with a team that feels like family.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.
  • Current MSHA certification.
  • Use of hand tools to maintain and repair equipment.
  • Mechanical background and skill.
  • Personal protective equipment is required.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and understand instructions in both written and verbal forms.
  • Dependability and reliability by showing up to scheduled shifts on time and being prepared for work.
  • Work well with crew members and take direction from supervisor.
  • A positive attitude is critical to ensure productive working relationships with co-workers and management.
  • Continuous exposure to weather elements including heat, cold, noise, dusty conditions, and working outdoors.
  • Overnight travel is not standard but may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Operate scraper safely and productively in pits and quarries stripping topsoil, overburdening, and reclaiming.
  • Complete pre and post-trip inspection and other required paperwork.
  • Fuel, grease, maintain, and help service equipment.
  • Operate and maintain other equipment as needed (i.e. loader, skid loader, etc.).
  • Assist in the field as a laborer (i.e. shoveling, cleaning equipment, set-up and tear down, etc.).
  • Team player mentality and eagerness to cross-train on topics such as laborer, mechanics, etc.
  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work as this job description is non-exhaustive.
