Description Key Duties & Responsibilities Operate a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles, including but not limited to: dump trucks (single/tandem/trailer), skid steers, backhoes, excavators, vactor trucks, front-end loaders, boom trucks, mowers, ditch-diggers, etc. (See municipal examples). Perform manual labor tasks associated with stormwater infrastructure: cleaning out catch basins, ditches, swales, culverts; removing debris; vegetative control (mowing, bush-hogging, trimming) in stormwater basins or channels. Assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of stormwater structures (pipes, manholes, inlets, basins), including excavation, backfilling, compaction, concrete/masonry repair. Establish safe work zones: setting up traffic control devices, signage, barricades, flagging traffic as needed. Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on assigned equipment; report larger maintenance/repair needs. Respond to emergency work: storm events, flooding, snow/ice if engaged; work in adverse weather, on-call hours may be required. Read and interpret work orders, plans, maps, route lists; maintain paperwork for jobs completed; maintain inventory of supplies/tools when required. Follow all safety and regulatory procedures: OSHA, confined space (if applicable), hazard recognition, proper equipment operation. Collaborate with team members, and potentially assist/training lesser-experienced staff when needed (for more senior levels).
