INTERNAL/EXTERNAL POSTING HR-PW-2026-07 *this opportunity is for an existing vacancy Job Title: Equipment Operator I (Heavy) Date Posted: Thursday, January 29th , 2026 Department: Public Works Closing: 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12th, 2026 Location: Public Works Reports to: Public Works Operations Manager Status: Full Time Permanent – 40.0 hours per week Union: IBEW Local 1730 Hourly Wage: $34.44 per hour with benefits as per the current IBEW Collective Agreement Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will operate construction, excavation, earthmoving and road clearing equipment rated at 80 H.P. and/or 6,900 kg or more in a safe and efficient manner. Position Requirements: High school Diploma Demonstrated ability to operate departmental equipment including trucks, loader, grader, bulldozer, small backhoe, sidewalk machine, landfill compactor, etc as determined by the employer. Three (3) years previous work experience directly related to equipment operation and maintenance. Have a clean driver’s abstract - and must be able to produce such Have and maintain a valid Class "D" driver's licence with a "Z" endorsement for air brake vehicles.
