GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

The Equipment Operator must have the ability to safely and efficiently operate a variety of heavy equipment utilized in the construction of Landfill caps, road construction, excavation of contaminated material, loading trucks and Clearing and Grubbing required to complete remediation requirements of the specific site and excavation of contaminated soil, backfill of material and finish grading consistent with standard environmental procedures proficiently. Requires knowledge of equipment maintenance and equipment capabilities and maintain equipment in safe operating condition with the ability to identify and report repairs needed by mechanic.
Salary Range: Hourly rate $28.12 with 1.5 multiplier for time over 40 hours per week.
SCA Hourly Health & Welfare fringe of $4.54

Essential Duties

  • Operate multiple types of heavy equipment of various sizes and weights able to establish required grades and cuts within acceptable tolerances
  • Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Director or HR Manager
  • Follow Daily Procedures & Protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to supervisor; keeping equipment clean
  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices.
  • Control traffic at work sites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required or assigned
  • Assist as laborers and/or technicians as requested by supervisors and foreman to expedite work as needed and aid personnel to operate the site in a safe manner
  • Pass training in shoring and sloping as required by OSHA, safety requirements, KEMRON SOPs and Military safety requirements

Operators must have visual acuity for both near and far distances and better than average coordination in order to operate both hand and foot levers simultaneously. They must have good judgment in order to perform complicated tasks and must be able to work closely with other crafts without constant supervision. Operators must be constantly alert and observant of their surroundings.

  • Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, near moving mechanical parts
  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, dust, asphalt, and/or hazardous material
  • Will frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • The noise level is usually loud
  • Extended sitting or operation of equipment
  • Use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Walk short distances, sometimes over uneven terrain
  • Pass required medical monitoring to work while using respiratory protection including Air Purifying Respirators, and supplied air respirators
