PRIMARY ASSIGNMENTS:

• Highly skilled in operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently, excavating and backfilling trenches, performing site grading, loading trucks, finishing grading, excavating around utilities, etc.
• Efficient operation of a CAT 305 and a 308 excavator.
• Expose existing utilities, utilize mechanical and hand-digging, and conduct trench work meeting OH&S requirements.
• Assist in operating for sewer and water service pipe installations.
• Work with ground personnel in the excavation and installation process of laying pipe on grade.
• Ensure trench is to the proper depth and grade.
• Follow directions regarding craning, compaction, gravel placement, and grading.
• Operate excavator on public roadways, tight residential areas, commercial properties, and municipalities, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings.
• Complete daily equipment maintenance checks, pre-and post-trips, and logs. See-through that routine maintenance is completed.
• Top off fluids and complete minor maintenance of equipment.
• General job set-up, site clean-up, and materials removal.

• Minimum 2 years of excavator experience is required.
• Must be comfortable excavating in close proximity to existing utilities. Minimum 1-year of experience digging around live utilities.
• Sewer and water experience will be considered an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean abstract; personal reliable transportation.
• Must be punctual and dependable.
• Understanding of, and adherence to construction procedure and safety practices.
• Strong communication, including verbal and hand signals.
• Knowledge of proper lifting and transfer of heavy loads.
