Whether you're operating advanced water treatment systems or managing solid waste and underground infrastructure, you’ll play a vital role in protecting public health and the environment.  If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves for a career that combines purpose, precision, and progress, we’d love to hear from you.      GENERAL DESCRIPTION:   Under general supervision, the Equipment Operator, Wastewater operates and maintains assigned equipment in wastewater operations including but not limited to loaders, tandem trucks and quad wagons, skidsteers, forklifts, and snow removal equipment, in compliance with all applicable bylaws and legislation.     RESPONSIBILITIES:   Operate various equipment such as quad wagons, loaders, tandem trucks, forklifts, skidsteers, and snow removal equipment. Complete pre/post-inspections, maintain daily operation equipment log detailing condition of equipment, perform minor servicing, and report any maintenance and operational issues to the Supervisor. Load truck and wagon with compost and take to landfill. Collect samples and deliver to lab as required. Mix compost materials with loader, ensuring to use correct ratios. Fill compost tunnels and place tunnels in proper phases. Remove snow around wastewater and water facilities. Complete training on equipment and participate in the RMWB training program as required by operations. Complete Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) and incident reports as required. May be required to carry out general labour duties. Perform other related duties as required.     QUALIFICATIONS     KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:   Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions. Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards, signage, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and applicable safety precautions as per municipal and industry standards. Ability to read, interpret, and apply equipment manuals, diagrams, operating procedures and work plans. Strong attention to detail and observational skills, especially while driving and operating equipment. Ability to understand/follow verbal and written instructions, keep simple records, communicate respectfully with co-workers, and work effectively in a team environment. General math and numeracy skills.     EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:   High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Two (2) years of experience in the operation of loaders and tandem trucks with quad wagons is required. Compost Facility Operator Certification is an asset.     OTHER REQUIREMENTS:   Submission of a Criminal Record Check. A valid Class One (1) Operator’s License is required as incumbent may be required to operate a personal or municipal vehicle for business use on a regular basis. Q-endorsement (Air Brakes) is required. Equipment field testing and/or competency testing will be required as part of the interview evaluation. Must be willing to work outside in all conditions.
