Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As our Leeds Community Equipment Technical –you’ll will play a key role in the supply of equipment to support daily living tasks and independence. This is achieved by delivering and installing complex equipment to people’s own home.
The Leeds Community Equipment Technical team are expected to deliver, dismantle and collect equipment which requires one person and to also to work in pairs for equipment which requires two person deliveries.
To liaise with customers and/or carers and to be able to demonstrate the safe operating use of the equipment.
The role is integral to our Leeds Community Equipment team to support and enable people to live safe, independent, and fulfilling lives, supporting health and social care statutory responsibilities. The service is important to the prevention agenda and provides a vital gateway to independence, dignity and wellbeing for people living in the community. The provision of these products supports avoidance of hospital admission, enables safe rapid discharge from hospital and prevents premature take up of care including residential placements.
The service operates 7 days a week and provides the delivery, ordering, maintenance, service and repair of community equipment following a professional assessment. The service also collects and refurbished equipment for it to be reissued. This role is essential for the recycling of equipment for Adults and Children.

JOB PURPOSE

Leeds City Council is the lead provider for Leeds Community Equipment Service. The staff working within the service are a mix of Leeds City Council and Leeds Community Healthcare employee.
Leeds Community Equipment Service’s role is to provide daily living and nursing equipment for people to use in their own home. Once the person has no further use for the equipment it is returned/ collected, cleaned, refurbished and then reissued. New equipment is also purchased.
The Equipment Technical Installation team are required to deliver, install and collect community equipment to people’s own home.
To deliver, dismantle and collect equipment which requires one person and to also to work in pairs for equipment which requires two person deliveries.
To liaise with customers and/or carers and to be able to demonstrate the safe operating use of the equipment.
The post holder will be responsible for providing and maintaining an efficient and professional customer focused support function to people requiring the service and related providers always ensuring discretion and confidentiality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to communicate effectively both face to face and on the telephone with customers, colleagues and carers/ relatives.
  • To communicate with customers in a form and manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating.
  • Ability to work within a customer’s property in a sensitive and appropriate way.
  • Delivery and collection of equipment which requires assembling and disassembling to and from various locations.
  • To use computerised system to plan and organize delivery route.
  • Use computerised systems forms to record, collate and retain all relevant details of deliveries and collections and to ensure that requests can be tracked electronically.
  • To comply with the Local Operational Procedure requirement for safe vehicle checks e.g. daily visual inspection of tyres, lights, oil etc.
  • To assist and take instructions from the Equipment Technical Installation Officer in the assembling of equipment to manufacturer’s instructions. To ensure equipment is positioned in a safe and secure area within the property.
  • To report any faults/repairs to Equipment Technical Installation Officer.
  • To liaise with clinical assessors, customers and carers/relatives with regard to the supply, delivery and collection of equipment.
  • To comply with all duties under an employee’s responsibility under Health and Safety legislation and policies of Leeds City Council and LCH.
  • Ensure all Local Operational Procedures are adhered to. Maintaining safety and security of the building eg signing in and out.
  • To ensure that equipment is moved and stored safe and securely both within the store and when loading, unloading and transporting equipment.
  • To maintain appropriate records for audit purposes.
  • To work closely with admin staff to route plan deliveries and confirm with the person or representative.

  • Carry out duties independently without routine supervision.

  • To use scanner to track movement of stock.
