This position reports directly to the Equipment Manager and plays a key role in supporting the overall maintenance and performance of our equipment fleet. The Equipment Technician is responsible for repairing and servicing equipment, maintaining accurate records of parts and labor for each piece of machinery, and assisting with additional maintenance tasks as needed. This role places a strong emphasis on safety and requires maintaining a clean, organized service area and maintenance building. The technician works closely with the Equipment Manager to ensure the shop environment is efficient, safe, and well-maintained. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform any Equipment Operator duties when needed. Assist Head Equipment Technician and shop crew with maintenance and repair of any golf course and grounds equipment. Grind, back-lap, sharpen and set up reel cutting units for mowers. Perform preventative maintenance and service on all equipment. Troubleshoot operational issues and deficiencies of all equipment. Order parts and repair materials when directed to by the Head Equipment Technician. All other duties deemed necessary by the Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant, or Head Equipment Technician. QUALIFICATIONS: Some mechanical experience preferred (golf course or similar is a plus). Basic knowledge of small engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and good attention to detail. Reliable, team-oriented, and takes pride in doing quality work. Ambition to grow into a lead or head mechanic position over time. PHYSICAL AND ENVIORNMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Majority of tasks are performed outdoors in variable weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and rainy. Temperatures can be extreme but are usually moderate. Frequently works near moving/mechanical parts. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to reach with arms and hands, bend and stoop, remain at post standing for periods of time, walk for a long distance, and is required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral. The noise level in the shop is usually moderate to loud. Due to the busy nature of a garage, the associate must be able to routinely work well under pressure, remain calm, and be tactful with co-workers.
