Boeing Commercial Airlines is looking for an Equipment and Tool Designer to join our 3D Metrology team in Renton, WA.
This role integrates dimensional metrology into the production system for tooling, assembly, and inspection processes. This is a highly technical role that will utilize a wide variety of hardware and software to meet the requirements of the production system.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE):

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience (Associates+1 years’ related work experience OR 3 years’ related work experience)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Level 3: 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 4: 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of measurement systems (e.g., photogrammetry, coordinate measuring machines, laser tracker, laser radar, laser alignment, portable measurement tools), large scale 3DM surveys, and basic requirements for conducting quality data collection.
  • Knowledge of application and interpretation of GD&T requirements
  • 3D modeling experience
  • Technical Writing: Ability to write clear, concise technical prose. Ability to apply technical knowledge and knowledge of fundamental writing skills for a variety of technical publications.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and document best practices for manual data collection and analysis processes.
  • Perform data analysis with respect to engineering GD&T and creates reports that characterize production and tooling parts and assemblies.
  • Improve current processes and develop new methods for unique measurement challenges.
  • Design and optimize survey plans and templates to maximize measurement quality.
  • Troubleshoot measurement issues and resolve technical problems for data collection.
  • Document data collection and analysis procedures to promote uniform data collection and reporting for recurring work statements.
