To review your benefit eligibility, visit HRMC Benefits. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: To provide clinical support services for the Emergency Department and Outpatient treatment area. Interviews the patient/guardian to accurately obtain and record the necessary information to complete the admitting process courteously and efficiently. Provides clerical support on the unit. Assists nurses and ED providers with patient care including transfers within the hospital and to other facilities and tasks included in the South Dakota Board of Nursing LPN Scope of Practice. Acts as a backup for the switchboard operator for breaks. Other Job Duties: Assumes responsibility for professional self-development. Participates in in-services, educational programs, unit meetings (attend a minimum of 80% of unit meetings per year), and mandatory meetings Assist the Coordinator of the ED/OP as needed Assists in the orientation and development of personnel according to department needs and as directed Maintenance of a professional appearance. Follows infection control procedures and universal precautions as applicable to work at hand according to established policy. Promotes and maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients, families, healthcare personnel, and the facility. Requirements Qualifications: Licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in South Dakota, required Broad background or training in medical office procedures and standards and knowledge of computer software preferred Able to communicate congenially and in a professional manner with co-workers, families, and physicians
