Alpine 24/7 Pet Hospital is an established veterinary hospital in Calgary on Macleod Trail next to Chinook mall. We offers combination of services including general practice, emergency medicine, and surgery with a boarded specialist. We are seeking an experienced ER veterinarian to join our team for a full-time position. This candidate will work with clinic staff to assume veterinarian duties and care of patients, diagnose and treat various clinical presentations, and perform emergency procedures on patients. Applicants must be willing to work some combination of evenings, weekends and holiday shifts. Applicants must be registered through the ABVMA and have a valid DVM or equivalent credentials from an accredited University.

SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Completion of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution or equivalent credentials.
• Registration with the ABVMA
• Two or more years of relevant experience preferred; however, those with less are encouraged to apply
• Excellent communication skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities under limited supervision
• Employ problem-solving skills and analysis, and effectively communicate with veterinarian technicians and support staff
• Positive attitude

• Effectively communicate relevant information to clients (exam, diagnostics, plan, follow-up, etc) and colleagues (patient rounding, accurate records, referrals, etc).
• Manage hospitalized patients and set up appropriate electronic treatment orders.
• Soft tissue surgeries including laceration repairs, abscesses, spays/neuters, foreign body surgery, etc.
• Accurate requisition and interpretation of various diagnostics (blood work, urinalysis, positioning for radiographs, etc.).
• Comfortable leading emergency situations including critical patients and CPR.
• Act as an effective team member and maintaining a positive atmosphere in the workplace.
