QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
  • CELTA/TESL/TESOL/TEFL certification (or equivalent) is required.
  • Previous teaching experience in an ESL/EFL setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and proficiency levels.
  • Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds and age groups.
  • Proficiency in classroom technology and online learning platforms is an asset.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or Education.
  • Experience teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
  • Knowledge of assessment tools such as IELTS, TOEFL, or CLB.
  • Active affiliations: TESL Canada and/or TESL NS
Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated ESL Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English language instruction to students of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The ESL Teacher will design engaging lessons, assess student progress, and create an inclusive learning environment that supports language acquisition and confidence in communication. We are currently hiring for a Substitute position, but it has potential for further hours if they become available.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and interactive ESL lessons tailored to students’ proficiency levels.
  • Develop lesson plans that incorporate all aspects of language learning, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through assignments, tasks, and classroom participation.
  • Provide individualized support and feedback to help students achieve their language learning goals.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation.
  • Integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance language learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and academic staff to improve curriculum development and instructional methods.
  • Prepare students for standardized English proficiency tests, if applicable.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings as required.
