Job Type: Part-time, Contract for English and ESL courses for Grade 11 and 12.
Part-time hours: 2-10 hours per week
Course Delivery Option: Online and In-Class located in Toronto, ON

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) in good standing is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with the Ministry of Education inspection process is preferred.
  • Recommended: TESL/CELTA certification
  • A minimum two years experience in high school or college teaching is preferred.
  • Minimum two years experience in teaching ESL.
  • Empathetic approach and commitment to student success.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • All teachers/educators of Vega Academy must be able to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver lessons aligned with school requirements and inspection guidelines.
  • Promote the general well-being of students.
  • Drive curriculum development by implementing innovative instructional methods and utilizing multimedia resources to enhance student engagement and understanding.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations and prepare achievement and learning skills reports aligned with Growing Success.
  • Provide students with frequent, thoughtful, and detailed feedback regarding their learning.
  • Participate with staff in meetings related to student success and school governance.
  • Complete administrative tasks aligned with school requirements and inspection guidelines, such as student attendance and recording of marks.
  • Maintain good order and discipline among students and safeguard their health and safety at all times.
  • Contribute to students’ growth and development by modeling ethical standards with respect equity, diversity, the use of technology, and academic integrity.
  • Utilize active learning strategies across various class formats, including online, hybrid, flexible, and in-person to enhance student engagement and understanding.
  • Provide academic counseling and tutoring support as needed, offering personalized assistance to help students overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals.
