Description

Purpose: Responsible for the safety and health compliance of all on-site contract activities.
Positions Reporting to this Function: N/A

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Perform safety and health inspections and assessments of shops, parking areas, hazardous materials/waste storage areas, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Train employees on relevant safety concepts and requirements, such as but not limited to fall protection and Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO).
  • Conduct investigations on safety and health incidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track and trend safety and health data.
  • Assist shops with identifying proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety related equipment.
  • Monitor the medical surveillance program for the site.
  • Strive to continuously improve the site’s safety and health culture.
  • Assist environment personnel when necessary to include performing environment inspections and conducting environmental release investigations.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies; renewing certifications.
  • Maintain a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring correct times are accurate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification & Experience Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Demonstrate commitment to continuing education and training in environmental, safety, and occupational health.
  • Must be able to obtain STS or NEBOSH General certificate within year of hire.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain all Logistic Information System (LIS) access requirements (Common Access Card).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a US Passport.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English and preferably German.
  • Excellent computer, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required. Computer skills include an extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Current First aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training preferred.
  • One year of experience in environment, safety, and health or equivalent field; military setting is preferred, but not required.
  • Industrial hygiene and radiation safety a plus, but not mandatory.
