OVERVIEW OF THE CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF PORTSMOUTH
The Diocese of Portsmouth comprises of 87 parishes across Hampshire, Dorset, Berkshire (except Slough), South Oxfordshire, the Isle of Wight, and the Channel Islands. Formed 19th May 1882 by the division of the Diocese of Southwark, the Diocese of Portsmouth has a presence in every community and can offer ministry and mission to all who come to us, working towards the Bishop’s vision of Bringing people closer to Jesus Christ through his Church.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To monitor and assist parishes with health, safety and compliance actions. ensuring the electronic system is up-to-date and maintained. Including Parish visits.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the Estates team.
- To respond to a wide range of estate-based enquiries.
- To maintain the chosen electronic system for the Diocesan Curia.
- Handle administrative tasks such as preparing reports and coordinating maintenance requests.
- Assist Parishes with investigations into accidents, ill health and near-miss incidents liaising with the Diocesan Competent Person and produce subsequent reports and actions.
- Advise senior management on any RIDDOR reportable accidents.
- Report injury claims to insurers and provide relevant documentation to defend and reduce the effect on the Diocese.
- Facilitate clergy and employees to be confident to report hazards and raise health and safety concerns with the Diocesan Competent Person.
- Assist the Estates team with project-specific health, safety and compliance issues co-ordinating admin tasks.
- Conduct regular inspections of properties and assets to ensure safety and maintenance standards compliance.
- Assist with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the estate management software.

- Proactively manage estate safety and compliance across a diverse portfolio spanning Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Dorset, Berkshire, and the Channel Islands.
- Collaborate closely with parishes to ensure best practices in estate management.

Please note, some travel may be required across the Diocese. The role is based at St. Edmund House, Bishop Crispian Way, Portsmouth, PO1 3QA.
