INFORMATION ABOUT THE POST
Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which has been rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.
We have two sites, the larger of which is near the train station in Winchester and the other, a small distance away in Weeke.
We are looking for a new member to join the large Estates team who look after the attractive grounds and many buildings. You will work full-time hours on a rotating shift pattern, which will include evenings. You will also be required to join a rota to cover some Saturdays, for which additional hours will be paid, as well as on-call commitment.
Duties will include locking and unlocking building, undertaking internal and external maintenance, porterage, driving and other duties as required to keep the buildings and grounds in good state.
You must be physically fit to undertake manual work. Experience in a maintenance role would be helpful but above all, we are looking for someone with a cheerful and ‘can-do’ attitude, who is ready and able to learn.
Our staff are at the heart of what we do at the College, we are proudly anti-racist and our motto is ‘Counting in ones’ which applies to staff as well as the students. We offer special leave for various special occasions, support from the Hub, staff-run groups, staff choir, Monday night football, regular staff forums, an inclusive, supportive and kind culture, no expectations to answer emails out of hours (with an automated message to alert the sender), lunch provided at all lunchtime meetings, ‘5 days of Christmas’ treats, end of term meals and activities and bike and computer loans to name but a few of our initiatives.
More details and information on how to apply are available on our website. If you require further assistance please phone the Personnel Department on 01962 857557 or email jobs@psc.ac.uk quoting the reference number.
We are dedicated to safeguarding the students in our care. To that end, a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced disclosure will be required in the event of an individual being offered a position within our College. Our staff undertake regular safeguarding and Prevent training and are subject to ongoing safeguarding scrutiny.
