Responsibilities

THE ROLE

The Estates Officer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and upkeep of college premises. Reporting to the Estates Operations Supervisor, the role involves overseeing cleaning, porterage, and maintenance teams, conducting inspections, and ensuring adherence to health and safety standards such as COSHH.
Key duties include supervising staff, Inspecting completed jobs and addressing maintenance issues, ensuring the security of college premises, and responding to emergencies. This role requires adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and occasional overtime. The Estates Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all users of the college facilities.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Organising - Organising workload with self-discipline to complete assigned tasks and being controlled and thoughtful when planning tasks with yourself and the team.
  • Interacting - The ability to adapt behaviour to build relationships with colleagues in the same team and cross-college teams, to liaise with others to create efficient processing.
  • Adapting - Adapting to sometimes last-minute changes in procedures and new tasks to be completed at different moments throughout the academic year and switching between a variety of tasks.
  • Processing - Sorting incoming work tasks swiftly and accurately to complete the tasks at hand, making sense of priority to follow appropriately.
