As an Estimating Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Civil Estimating team by maintaining and organizing tender documents, bid folders, and project files. You will assist with basic drafting in AutoCAD, markups in Bluebeam, and preparing quantity takeoffs for civil projects. This entry-level position offers close supervision and hands-on training, making it an excellent opportunity to develop strong coordination and technical skills within heavy civil construction estimating.
This role primarily interacts with the Estimating team, Chief Estimator, and Project Coordinators to support the bidding process and project setup. You will be responsible for maintaining organized and accurate estimating documents, learning to interpret civil drawings, and assisting in key estimating tasks.

YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS, TECHNICAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Qualifications:

  • Years of experience: 0+ years (entry-level role).
  • Education: Architecture and Building Technology Diploma from BCIT (or another Design, Engineering and Technology program), Bachelor of Engineering/Applied Science from a Canadian accredited institution.
  • Experience in heavy civil construction estimating support is considered an asset.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and ability to assist with earthwork takeoffs.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam for markups and quantity takeoff processes.
  • Typing speed of 50 WPM with 95% accuracy.
  • Strong document organization and file management skills.
