Description Summary The Estimating Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for cable reel manufacturing and miscellaneous fabrication projects, as well as entering and maintaining work orders in Global Shop Solutions (GSS). This role ensures accurate pricing, efficient production planning, and reliable system functionality across estimating, GSS, and production processes. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. ? Key Responsibilities Estimating & Cost Analysis (Reels & Misc. Fabrication) Prepare accurate cost estimates for custom and standard reel products as well as miscellaneous fabrication jobs (one-off, short-run, or custom projects). Estimate material, labor, machine time, overhead, and outside processing using Global Shop Solutions. Review customer specifications, drawings, RFQs, and internal standards to determine manufacturing requirements. Collaborate with sales, engineering, and production to confirm scope, timelines, and cost drivers. Develop and maintain estimating templates, labor standards, and cost assumptions within GSS. Analyze historical job costing data in GSS to improve estimate accuracy and margin performance. Work Order Entry & Production Support Enter, maintain, and audit work orders in Global Shop Solutions for reel and miscellaneous fabrication jobs. Build and maintain accurate: Bills of Material (BOMs) Routings and labor standards Due dates and production priorities Process engineering changes, customer revisions, and production updates within GSS. Support job close-out to ensure accurate costing and reporting. Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Generate and analyze GSS reports related to: Estimating accuracy (reels vs. misc. fabrication) Job cost variances Production efficiency Data integrity Identify opportunities to improve estimating workflows, ERP utilization, and fabrication processes. Support continuous improvement initiatives and standardization efforts. Requirements Required Computer skills - Working knowledge of programs necessary to support design and operations. (CAD, MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, GSS) Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Business, or Information Technology. Experience estimating in a manufacturing environment; metal fabrication experience strongly preferred. Hands-on experience with Global Shop Solutions or similar manufacturing ERP systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail Ability to focus on continuous improvement Excellent communication skills Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field. Experience in estimating miscellaneous fabrication, one-off, or custom jobs. Knowledge of job costing, BOMs, routings, and labor standards in GSS.
