ESTIMATING MANAGER- CIVIL CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY- SALARY UP TO $170K (DOE)

KeyStaff Professionals is seeking an experienced and proactive Estimating Manager to lead our estimating department and oversee all phases of the cost estimation and bidding process. This role is crucial for driving pre-construction efforts, developing effective estimating practices, and maintaining a competitive project pipeline. The Estimating Manager will ensure precision, consistency, and strategic decision-making throughout all estimating activities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional Engineering License.
  • 10+ years of Highway Heavy estimating experience
  • Thorough knowledge of standard construction industry contracting, purchasing, engineering, and controls procedures.
  • Experience successfully leading and managing a team.
  • Advanced knowledge of equipment uses and construction techniques.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of estimators and support staff, ensuring accountability and high performance
  • Manage all estimating operations, including bid preparation, cost analysis, and proposal development
  • Evaluate upcoming bid opportunities and strategically select projects to pursue to sustain a growing backlog
  • Create detailed and accurate estimates using estimating software (such as B2W Enterprise Edition), historical data, and professional judgment
  • Review bids carefully to ensure they are complete, accurate, and competitive
  • Facilitate bid review meetings and represent the company in negotiations with partners and clients
  • Analyze past estimating results to improve bidding accuracy and success rates, tracking metrics such as win/loss rates and bid types
  • Build and nurture relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and industry stakeholders
  • Review contract documents and propose amendments to mitigate risk
  • Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders when acting as the prime contractor
  • Assist with change orders, supplemental agreements, and value engineering initiatives during projects
  • Support preparation of technical proposals, including design-build and alternative delivery models
  • Maintain and manage estimating software systems, implement updates, and provide training for the team
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and improve future estimating practices
  • This role oversees Senior Estimators, Estimators, and administrative personnel
