Description
Estimation Engineer The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented and analytical Estimation Engineer with proven experience in air conditioning (HVAC) projects. The role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, BOQs, and technical and commercial proposals for residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC projects. The position requires close coordination with design, procurement, and project execution teams. Responsibilities: Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC/AC projects based on drawings, specifications, and tender documents. Perform quantity take-offs for HVAC systems, including chillers, VRF/VRV, DX units, ducting, piping, insulation, controls, and accessories. Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and material cost breakdowns. Analyse vendor quotations and prepare comparative statements. Review tender documents, scope of work, and technical requirements. Prepare technical and commercial proposals in line with client specifications. Identify risks, assumptions, exclusions, and value-engineering options. Coordinate with sales and management during tender submissions and negotiations. Liaise with design, procurement, and project teams to validate estimates. Support value engineering and cost optimisation without compromising performance or standards. Assist in post-award budget finalization and cost control planning. Ensure estimates comply with ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISHRAE, and local authority standards. Maintain records of estimates, pricing databases, and historical project data. Candidate profile: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Three to eight years of experience in HVAC/AC estimation for construction or MEP projects. Hands-on experience with commercial, residential, or industrial HVAC systems. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems (chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF, and DX systems). Proficiency in AutoCAD (for drawing review and quantity take-offs). Familiarity with estimation tools/software and MS Excel (advanced level preferred). Understanding of HVAC materials, market rates, and supplier networks. Strong analytical and numerical skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and coordination skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously. Experience in high-value or fast-track projects. Knowledge of local authority approvals and tendering procedures. Exposure to EPC / Design & Build HVAC projects.
