OVERVIEW

Bass Installation is a construction company located in Mississauga, Ontario specializing in the supply and installation of glass on skyscrapers, office buildings and hi-rise residential buildings throughout the GTA. We are currently looking for an Estimator for a six (6) month contract to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead in the completion of take-offs and project estimates in a timely manner, including cost of materials, labour and equipment required for projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Post-secondary education with a Diploma/Degree related to Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Engineering or related education
• A minimum of 2-3 years of ICI estimating experience
• Estimating detailed curtainwall systems considered an asset
• A minimum of 2-3 years experience with AutoCAD and Bluebeam to complete takeoffs
• Ability to meet deadlines in efficiently and timely manner
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, all divisions of Canadian Construction specifications, market conditions and trade practices
• Knowledge and understanding of contractual Terms and Conditions
• Thorough knowledge and use of Procore, MS Project, Sketchup are an asset
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 with advanced knowledge of Excel and SharePoint
• Must be willing to learn and be a team player

DUTIES

Reporting to the Pre-Construction Senior Project Manager, the successful candidate will be located at our head office in Mississauga. The candidate will work as part of the Pre-Construction and Estimating team under the Business Development Department to assist with projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Conduct a detailed analysis of the contract documents and specifications, to determine overall project requirements and identifying any associated risk factors, including the monitoring of published addendums that may alter the original scope of the project
• Foster strong working relationships with vendors and subcontractors
• Maintain a centralized directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors, ensuring accuracy and accessibility
• Manage a database of cost information including but not limited to cost feedback from bids, unit pricing and material and labour costing
• Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors as required
• Coordinate sub-contractors’ quotations, negotiating to ensure quotes meet contract documents, and issuing proper documented purchase orders
• Develop detailed cost break down from estimates and for project progress
