Role Overview
We are seeking a estimator to join our dynamic team of estimators, playing a crucial role in pricing and tendering for projects across the minor works and maintenance sector. This role involves working collaboratively with the Contracts Managers and Operations Managers, reporting directly to the Commercial & Estimating Manager. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and competitive cost proposals while maintaining profitability and compliance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates, quotations, and cost plans for a range of minor works and maintenance projects.
  • Work closely with Contracts Managers and Operations Managers to develop project costings and ensure practical and cost-effective solutions.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations, ensuring best value and compliance with project needs.
  • Contribute to the development of pricing strategies to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
  • Monitor market trends, material costs, and labour rates to provide accurate estimates.
  • Assist in preparing bid submissions and tender presentations for client approval.
  • Work alongside the Commercial & Estimating Manager to review financial and contractual risks.
  • Ensure estimates are aligned with health & safety regulations and CDM requirements.
  • Maintain and update the company’s estimating CRM system with current rates and project cost data.
  • Support post-tender negotiations and liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors as needed.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in estimating within the construction, minor works, or maintenance sector.
  • Strong knowledge of cost planning, tendering, and procurement processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Experience working with contracts, subcontractors, and material suppliers.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • A proactive team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.
