Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Review and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate and timely cost estimates. * Quantify materials, equipment, and labor for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes. * Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes. * Prepare detailed and organized estimate breakdowns, cost summaries, and pricing sheets. * Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions as required. * Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to clarify scope and design intent. * Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize cost and performance. * Monitor market trends and pricing to maintain competitive estimates. * Maintain a database of historical cost data and unit prices. * Support post-bid project handoff to the construction team, including clarifying scope and transferring documentation. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. * Minimum 3–5 years of MEP estimating experience in commercial construction. * Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and construction methodologies. * Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble/Accubid, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar). * Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. * Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications. * Familiarity with local building codes, permitting, and construction industry standards. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PREFERRED SKILLS: * Experience with design-build or design-assist projects. * Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling). * LEED or other sustainability certification knowledge is a plus. * Experience with cost modeling and budgeting for early-stage project development. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WORK ENVIRONMENT: * Primarily office-based with occasional travel to job sites and pre-bid walkthroughs. * Fast-paced environment with deadlines and project milestones.
