JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating and project management, with the ability to negotiate effectively and build strong relationships with clients and subcontractors. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects are accurately priced and that all necessary materials and labor are accounted for.

SKILLS

  • Education: Diploma in Engineering Technology or Architectural Technology (required). Seeking new graduates
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant estimating experience in the construction industry (concrete experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards, particularly in concrete forming, placing, and finishing.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Excel, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple bids simultaneously.

Responsibilities
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs for all concrete-related scopes.
  • Analyze project requirements and develop comprehensive cost estimates, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to develop budgets, schedules, and work plans.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Ensure all estimates are prepared in compliance with company standards, safety requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain and update historical cost data to improve future estimating accuracy.
  • Participate in bid review meetings and provide input on pricing strategies to maximize competitiveness and profitability.
  • Track and follow up on submitted bids to convert opportunities into awarded contracts.
  • Assist in post-project cost analysis to identify areas for improvement.
