QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience as an Estimator, preferably within the construction or passive fire protection industry would be advantageous.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
  • Experience preparing and submitting estimates for both private and public sector projects.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to manage cost-effective solutions with suppliers and contractors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accurate tender submissions and cost estimations.
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Estimator role is critical for reviewing new business enquiries and managing estimating tasks. The role involves assessing tender documents, liaising with suppliers and contractors, and preparing accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates for passive fire protection works. The Estimator will work closely with the operations teams to ensure bids are commercially viable, technically compliant, and aligned with the company’s delivery capabilities. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a solid understanding of industry standards and materials are essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive and review tender documentation, assess whether the project aligns with company goals and capabilities.
  • Compile comprehensive tenders, sourcing material prices from manufacturers and suppliers, and liaising with contract managers to assess labour availability.
  • Prepare and submit tenders to clients, ensuring accuracy and alignment with specifications.
  • Send follow-up emails to clients to check on the status of the quotation and its review process.
  • Maintain and update a tender tracker to ensure all submissions are accurately tracked and deadlines are met.
  • Once an order is confirmed, organise a handover meeting with the contracts manager to review specifications and key dates.
