  • Ability to interpret client drawings
  • Proven ability in planning, producing and delivering compliant proposals within a complex business environment
  • Conducting detailed document review
  • Document template management, in line with company branding and client reporting requirements
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, with excellent organization and coordination skills
  • Excellent oral, verbal, and written skills
  • Strong in Word, Excel, and other document creation software
  • Experience with HeavyBid Estimating Software would be an asset
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Heavy civil utility and trenchless experience would be an asset

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in oil field industry, lease construction, heavy civil construction as Estimator, Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or field experience, such as Operator, Driller, Heavy Duty Machinery Operator
  • Tunneling/underground experience is an asset
  • Minimum 4-5 years of specialized experience in the field is an asset
  • Potential Drug and Alcohol clearance for Site visits
Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Reporting to the VP of Preconstruction, the Estimator is responsible for assisting the business development and operations department with reviewing requests for proposals, preparing bid packages, and developing proposals for future projects. This includes the review of all received bid documents, collecting the necessary technical and commercial information, drafting the proposal package, and assisting the development of supplier and subcontractor packaging and pricing for each project. All submissions will be reviewed and approved by the Preconstruction Team and Senior Management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct a detailed analysis of received contract requirements and request for proposal packages
  • Coordinate the proposal process through scheduling tasks, gathering resources, and preparing the proposal within client’s deadlines
  • Develop cost estimates for each bid Including labour, equipment, materials and subcontractors required
  • Brief engineering consultants and seek requests for proposals to perform engineering design services
  • Review and advise on company tendering requirements Assist procurement with maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
  • Generate and compile all necessary technical and commercial documents required for bid submission
  • Prepare and conduct handover of awarded projects to the operations team
  • Assist Proposal Manger in delivery of comprehensive, timely, and professionally produced proposals
  • Prepare and review project schedules to support the cost estimates
  • Assisting others on site with their tasks as needed
