Job Opportunity: Estimator - Rail
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + car allowance + package

About the Role: Our client is on the lookout for a skilled Estimator to join their pre-contract team in the South region. If you have a knack for estimating contracts and projects during the pre-contract/tender stage, especially for multi-disciplinary rail infrastructure projects, this could be the perfect fit for you. You’ll be focusing on CP7 framework projects, among others.

Team Overview: The South region is buzzing with activity, handling a variety of projects at the pre-contract/tender stage across engineering and rail infrastructure. This includes:

  • Rail
  • Civil Engineering & Building Works
  • Mechanical & Electrical Works
  • Electrification & Plant Works

From bridges and footbridges to embankments, station improvements, platforms, tunnels, and electrification, the team delivers a wide array of projects throughout Wales, Western, and the South East. They work on diverse infrastructure projects, ranging from one-off tenders to long-term agreements with key clients.

CURRENT PROJECTS:

  • CP7 Infrastructure Projects
  • Minor Works and Environment Agency Frameworks
  • Projects like bridge reconstruction/replacement and station improvements

What You’ll Be Doing: As an Estimator, you’ll be at the heart of managing tender opportunities and ITTs. Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Registering, controlling, and administering tender documentation.
  • Preparing and managing tenders from start to finish.
  • Presenting tenders at review meetings to senior management.
  • Working closely with the Supply Chain team on supplier/subcontractor inquiries.
  • Conducting technical and commercial appraisals of labour, plant, materials, and temporary works.
  • Performing take-offs from drawings and producing cost-effective tenders based on first principles.
  • Analysing and pricing risks associated with tenders.
  • Preparing tender submission documents and estimating reports.
  • Assisting in the proposals and contract management functions.

What We’re Looking For As An Estimator: To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Previous experience as an Estimator in a civil engineering and/or Electrical & Power infrastructure setting, particularly in multi-disciplinary projects and/or frameworks.
  • Expertise in First Principles Estimating.
  • A solid background in Rail and Civil Engineering projects.
  • Rail experience is a plus.
  • Causeway software experience and knowledge is desirable.
