Estimator - Electrical Utilities Projects Supporting Australia’s transmission and distribution networks UGL delivers some of Australia’s most critical infrastructure across resources, defence, transport and the power and renewables sectors. Within UGL, the Utilities Operations & Maintenance (O&M) business supports the safe, reliable operation of electricity transmission and distribution networks across Australia through long term maintenance programs. This includes established, ongoing programs with Western Power, the New England Renewable Energy Zone, Endeavour Energy, and the University of Queensland. With a strong and consistent pipeline of work, estimating sits at the centre of the Utilities O&M business. The tendering team plays a key role in developing competitive, commercially sound submissions that support long term service contracts and new program wins. About the role You’ll support the pricing and commercial aspects of tenders, expressions of interest, and operational estimating activities across a national portfolio. The role is hands‑on and varied, working as part of a small, specialised team alongside the Bid Manager and Senior Estimator. Key responsibilities Coordinate pricing inputs from operations, subject matter experts, subcontractors, suppliers, and designers. Play an active role in procurement, contributing to scope development, sourcing activities, and pricing negotiations. Support pricing updates, variations, and schedule reviews for existing contracts. Develop and maintain rate cards, pricing schedules, and standard estimating tools and templates. Ensure all estimates are accurate, well‑benchmark​ed, and compliant with UGL governance and approval requirements. What we offer Flexible hybrid work environment. About you Currently working in an electrical project engineering role in a similar industry with hands‑on experience in tendering and estimating. Demonstrated involvement across the estimating lifecycle, including contributing to pricing, scope reviews, and tender submissions. Proficiency with estimating systems and strong Excel skills (CATS or similar preferred). A genuine desire to transition into a full‑time estimating role and continue developing technical and commercial capability in this space.
