Your work will involve evaluating project plans, collaborating with design and engineering teams, and helping clients understand project scopes, timelines, and budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating for automation, smart home technology, or related fields.
  • Experience with home automation systems (e.g., lighting control, security, HVAC, smart appliances, home theater).
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of automation technologies and systems, including integration of smart devices.
  • Proficient in estimating software and tools (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, Buildertrend).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze technical documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Certifications (Optional):
  • Certifications in home automation or smart systems (e.g., CEDIA, Savant, Lutron).
Responsibilities
  • Prepare Detailed Estimates: Accurately estimate the costs of automation systems for residential and commercial projects, including smart home solutions, security systems, lighting controls, HVAC automation, and more.
  • Project Evaluation: Analyze project blueprints, technical specifications, and client requirements to determine material, labor, and time requirements for automation systems.
  • Vendor Coordination: Research and select suppliers and subcontractors for automation materials and systems, and negotiate prices and terms.
  • Cost Analysis: Provide detailed cost breakdowns for system installations, integration of smart devices, and other automation solutions, ensuring estimates are both competitive and profitable.
  • Collaborate with Design and Engineering Teams: Work closely with design engineers, architects, and project managers to review plans, provide input on system capabilities, and adjust estimates as necessary based on changes in the project scope.
  • Create Bid Proposals: Prepare and submit comprehensive bid proposals, including scope of work, timeline, and costs, to clients or project stakeholders.
  • Project Scheduling: Develop realistic timelines for project completion, accounting for material procurement, installation, testing, and system commissioning.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks or obstacles that may affect cost and timeline and work with teams to mitigate those risks.
  • Maintain Project Documentation: Ensure accurate tracking of all estimates, cost breakdowns, and communication with vendors, clients, and project teams.
  • Stay Updated on Industry Trends: Keep abreast of the latest developments in automation technologies and smart home systems, ensuring estimates reflect the most current industry standards.
