Frontier-Kemper, a Tutor Perini Company, is seeking an Estimator I to join our home office in Evansville, Indiana. About Frontier-Kemper Excellence in Underground and Heavy Civil Construction At Frontier-Kemper, we specialize in heavy civil construction and underground mine development. We are known for our expertise in the engineering and construction of deep shafts and tunnels of all sizes and complexity. Our FKC-Lake Shore division provides design/build/install services for innovative Hoisting and Vertical Conveyance Systems. Across North America, notable projects include The Purple Line Extensions section 3 in Los Angeles, Water Tunnel number 3 in New York City, Eagle Mountain Gas Pipeline and Kemano T2 tunneling projects in British Columbia, Canada, the Inter-Quarry Tunnel in Leesburg, VA and the Century Mine in Volga, WV. Extraordinary Projects need Exceptional Talent DESCRIPTION: As an Estimator I at Frontier-Kemper, you will have the opportunity to: Assist with organizing and managing the bid process in conjunction with the Estimating Manager Review and analyze bid documents to develop project labor, materials, and equipment requirements and costs Travel to attend pre-bid meetings and site visits while establishing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, engineers, and consultants Consult with suppliers and subcontractors during the bidding process to determine costs Assist with the technical proposals and presentations Assist with the preparation of post-bid work plans, procurement, scheduling, and cost control Actively participate in production tracking and post-job analysis Assist with maintaining date base of historical estimates and project information records REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management is required 2 + years experience in heavy civil, mining, construction or a related area with good working knowledge of general engineering applications and construction practices Previous experience with field engineering, estimating, project scheduling, and technical writing required Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office products, civil estimating software (preferably HCSS), and scheduling software (preferably Primavera P6). Effective written communication, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to perform a variety of tasks and manage those tasks concurrently within firm timelines Ability to read and understand construction documents including contracts, specifications, and drawings Attention to detail with an emphasis on time management and organizational skills Ability to function effectively within a team atmosphere Ability to travel overnight as needed on an infrequent basis Ability and willingness to visit sites (mines and tunnels) within an underground environment OUR MISSION We build critical infrastructure that creates a better world. Responsibilities
