Estimator – Commercial & Institutional Construction
Charlottetown, PE
We are working with one of Prince Edward Island’s leading general contractors, to hire an experienced Estimator to join their team in Charlottetown. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a close-knit team environment while contributing to high-impact commercial and institutional projects across the Island.
Position Overview
As an Estimator, you will play a key role in the pre-construction process by preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing drawings and specifications, and ensuring competitive and profitable bids. This position offers the flexibility to work from home when needed, within a supportive and experienced office team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and institutional construction projects.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate takeoffs.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure understanding of scope and requirements.
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Support the team in preparing proposals and tender submissions.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of estimating experience in general contracting, with a focus on commercial or institutional projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $90,000/year.
  • Benefits: Company-paid medical and dental, RRSP matching (5%), and 3 weeks vacation.
  • Flexible work arrangements, including the ability to work from home as needed.
  • Standard schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
