VACANCY- ESTIMATOR/PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR.

Islwyn Pugh Construction Ltd is a specialist construction and fitout company with a solution-focused approach to our clients, over a wide range of heritage, commercial and retail sectors. We have exciting career opportunities available for an Estimator with a background in Construction and fit-outto join our team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • To be good at working as a team with people at all levels.
  • Capable to work to strict deadlines and timescales.
  • Minimum 2 years plus experience working as an Estimator or an Assistant Estimator
  • You will have experience estimating on construction and fit out projects in the retail and office sector.
    · Provide estimated costs of proposed projects including approaching nominated contractors.
    · Have good computer skills with Microsoft and AutoCAD would be advantageous.
    · ·Liaise with Sub-Contractors as required to gain competitive costings.
    · ·Liaise with departmental staff, client departments, contractors, suppliers and statutory authorities in matters relating to work as appropriate.
    · ·Order and ensure that materials, equipment and plant detailed in specifications and drawings for construction or improvement work are ordered in accordance with tendering procedures.
    · ·Liaise with specialists and consultants as appropriate to obtain assistance and advice.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

· ·Will have at least 3 to 5 years’ experience working on commercial tenders
· ·Be commercially astute
· ·Possess excellent communication skills
· ·To be self-motivated and work within a team environment.
· ·Be ambitious and determined
· ·Knowledge on the use of Microsoft project (or similar) is desirable.
· Basic knowledge of AutoCAD would be an advantage.
· ·Although not essential, experience with NEC & JCT contracts
· ·Comfortable with tenders between £50k and £1.5million

Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction and fit-out projects.
  • Analyse project specifications, drawings, and contracts.
  • Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive Working closely with Contracts Director to manage with day-to-day development.
  • Attending scope meetings for new projects.
  • Completing quantity take-offs and measurements.
  • Working independently to price tenders.
  • Assisting with material, subcontract buying and PO’s.
  • Assisting with pricing of variations throughout the project and supporting the delivery team.
  • Collating material and contractor information for preparation of operating manuals.
