Position Description The Estimator will be responsible for complex and large-scale jobs, including conceptual estimates, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, systems studies and comparisons, value engineering, subcontractor relations and staying abreast of industry developments applicable to estimating. Key Responsibilities Manage the estimating process to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with client expectations. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, designers, and subcontractors. Review drawings, specifications, and related documents to develop accurate cost, labor, and time estimates. Perform quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing to establish project values. Analyze project scope, identify risks, and develop value engineering solutions. Prepare assumptions, qualifications, cost comparisons, and reconciliations. Coordinate subcontractor solicitation, evaluation, and selection. Develop budgets, GMPs, scope sheets (Exhibit B), and final estimates. Ensure quality control and consistency across all bids and estimates. Collaborate with internal teams and communicate effectively with all stakeholders. Support business development efforts, including presentations and interviews. Essential Skills & Competencies Communicate clearly and build strong working relationships, using solid negotiation skills when needed. Act with integrity and maintain a strong sense of professional ethics in all aspects of the role. Work well both independently and as part of a team, contributing wherever needed. Look for ways to improve processes and work more efficiently. Pay close attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all deliverables. Stay aware of potential project risks and take initiative to address them early. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating. Proficiency in estimating software and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices. Working knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations, and safety standards. Compensation & Benefit The base salary for this position is one component of J. Benton Construction’s total compensation package. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including a candidate’s skills, experience, education, relevant qualifications, internal equity, and business needs. J.
