Description About the Role: Matrix Contracting Services is seeking a skilled and driven Estimator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, problem-solving, and taking ownership of their work. You’ll play a key role in evaluating project opportunities, defining scope, and ensuring accurate, competitive pricing — all while building trusted relationships across clients, vendors, and subcontractors. What You’ll Do: Qualify new project opportunities and define detailed scopes of work through site visits, plan reviews, and vendor coordination. Prepare accurate take-offs, cost estimates, and supporting documentation for proposals. Read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings to inform project pricing. Lead vendor and subcontractor site walks, negotiations, and pricing discussions. Collaborate with Account Managers and Operations to align project scope, budget, and schedule. Maintain clear, consistent communication with internal teams and clients. Build and expand a reliable network of vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and quality work. Participate in pre-construction meetings to ensure seamless project transitions. Requirements What You Bring: 3+ years of estimating experience in the construction industry (multi-family preferred). Strong knowledge of price negotiation, vendor relationships, and market costs. Basic understanding of both interior and exterior construction scopes. Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and networking skills. Independent thinker who’s also a proactive problem solver and team collaborator. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Xactimate or Sage experience a plus. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 30–40% for project opportunities.
