JOB SUMMARY:

The Estimator will be responsible for providing accurate cost estimates for the production and installation of windows and doors, working exclusively from the office. The role requires proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, as well as a strong understanding of construction materials and the manufacturing process. This position involves interacting with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure all estimates are accurate and aligned with customer needs and project requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of [3-5] years of experience as an estimator, specifically in the window and door manufacturing industry or related sectors.
  • Experience with cost estimation software or spreadsheets (e.g., Excel, estimating programs).
  • Strong knowledge of window and door materials, manufacturing processes, and installation methods, particularly PVCu and aluminium frames.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and product specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with internal teams, suppliers, and clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and other estimating tools.

Office-based position with occasional site visits (if needed) to verify project details or conditions

Responsibilities
  • Cost Estimation:
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and client requirements to create accurate estimates for windows and doors.
  • Calculate material costs (glass, framing, hardware, etc.) and labour requirements utilising in-house design and estimating software
  • Prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns, including material, labour, installation, access and delivery costs.
  • Provide estimates for both standard and custom window and door products, considering different configurations and materials.
  • Client and Team Interaction:
  • Liaise with sales, project managers, and clients to clarify project details and ensure an accurate understanding of requirements.
  • Provide pricing and product recommendations to sales teams based on project specifications.
  • Communicate with clients or contractors to discuss any necessary adjustments to initial estimates based on design or material changes.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain an organized system for all estimates, quotes, and associated documents.
  • Update pricing and estimate details regularly to reflect changes in material costs or product specifications.
  • Generate detailed reports on cost estimates, project progress, and budget forecasts for management review.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams:
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure materials are available and production timelines are met.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and lead times for materials.
  • Provide support to the operations team to ensure projects stay within budget and meet deadlines.
  • Market and Product Knowledge:
  • Stay informed on industry trends, pricing changes, and new product offerings to ensure estimates are competitive and up to date.
  • Research new technologies and materials in the window and door industry to enhance cost-effectiveness.
  • Cost Control:
  • Monitor changes in material costs and adjust estimates accordingly to ensure pricing remains competitive and accurate.
  • Review the accuracy of completed estimates, ensuring they align with actual project costs upon completion.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all estimates comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Maintain a high level of quality and consistency in all estimates.
