Description

Position Summary:
The Estimator will be responsible for obtaining and compiling the necessary information to prepare job cost estimates and bids. The Estimator is technically competent, understands Trade Standards, applies best practice standards, and can accurately estimate to maximize profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Seek and get invites to price work within the area the company handles work.
  • Possess relationships with trade-related vendors and stakeholders
  • Maintain relationships with clients to secure invites to participate in public and private bids.
  • Review published plans and specifications, conduct site visits, assess existing conditions that may affect the estimate, meet with client/owner as needed. (moved this one up)
  • Prepare accurate take-offs to determine material, component, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Prepare estimates, bids and proposals for the installation, repair, and/or replacement of equipment and systems.
  • Consult with Field Supervisors, Project Managers, Coordinators, Safety Manager and other company personnel as needed.
  • Develop pricing and generate detailed estimates and proposals using approved cost factors, processes, following established procedures.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts involving estimates, bids, and proposals.
  • Handle contract negotiations and oversee agreements.
  • Participate in job turnover meetings.
  • Review industry publications, monitor technological changes/improvements and new developments in the industry.
  • Make recommendations on ways to improve workflow and increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Develop positive business relationships with vendors, clients, owners and subcontractors.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years estimating experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred.

  • Possess MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Construction site experience preferred - Hands-on knowledge of materials installation techniques, and system components.
  • Proficiency in estimation software: On-Screen Takeoff / QuickBid preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Attention to detail and good negotiation skills.
  • Solid background in diverse commercial projects
  • Self-motivated attitude, teachable mentality, and coachable spirit
  • Able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments effectively.
  • Interface effectively, ethically and professionally with Pillar team members and subcontractors.
  • Communicate effectively in English (oral and written).
  • Possess strong desire, willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
