JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Pre-Construction Manager, the Estimator will be responsible for managing one or more complete estimates while demonstrating a strong command of the entire bidding process. A thorough understanding of project challenges and associated risks is essential to succeed in this role.

What you will do

  • Review project plans and specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of the scope.
  • Prepare project overhead costs.
  • Develop a preliminary project schedule, including required site resources.
  • Identify key trades, materials, subcontractors, and suppliers that will contribute to a successful estimate.
  • Build the estimate using specialized software, incorporating subcontracted tasks, self-performed work, labor teams, production rates, work ratios, quantities, and more.
  • Analyze the project in detail to anticipate construction methods involving indirect costs.
  • Assist the Pre-Construction Manager in selecting subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Participate in bid closings, as well as handover and follow-up meetings with construction teams.
  • In short, you will be a key player from start to finish in the estimating process!

This role could be for you if you have

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Civil Engineering, or possess equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in estimating and/or executing construction projects.
  • Solid knowledge in one or more of the following areas: formwork, concreting, earthworks, drainage, and foundations.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Suite and Bid2Win is considered an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in English.
  • Versatility, strong analytical skills, and a desire to be actively involved long-term in a results-driven estimating team.
  • Good understanding of the Eastern Canadian construction market.
  • A genuine passion for diverse and challenging civil projects!
